Bi-Rite's 18 Reasons to Fight Childhood Obesity

By Carrotmob March 30, 2013

The evidence is clear that proper nutrition is essential to children's development, advancement, and good grades in school. And with high obesity rates, the need for nutrition education is immense. Carrotmob is teaming up with 18 Reasons to teach kids about healthy eating!

Right across the street from their Mission store, 18 Reasons is Bi-Rite Market's innovative community space, host to wine and food tastings, skills classes, gallery openings, and expert sessions with food industry professionals.

We're Carrotmobbing 18 Reasons to create a scholarship program for at-risk and low-income kids to attend healthy eating summer camp, All Plant Parts.

If WE buy vouchers to become members of 18 Reasons, THEY will dedicate 100% of the proceeds to fund camp scholarships to help kids learn about nutrition and create healthy meals. All Plant Parts Camp is an interactive program led by 18 Reasons and Slow Food San Francisco focusing on the science and art of growing and cooking edible plants. At camp, the kids will get their hands dirty, learning how to harvest veggies from the garden and prepare healthy meals.

As a member of 18 Reasons, YOU get access to 18 Reasons' community offerings such as tastings and exhibitions by local artists, discounts to classes like beer brewing and cheesemaking, and special perks like gift cards to Bi-Rite Market & Creamery, Tartine Bakery, Pizzeria Delfina and discounts at Dolores Park Café and other local businesses.

Buy your Carrotmob voucher to 18 Reasons and help empower young people, regardless of background or financial ability, to learn the importance of eating well.
