This Carrotmob was organised by Climate Smart Cape Town (CSCT), an initiative driven by the Cape Town Climate Change Coalition (CTCCC). The CTCCC consists of thirty member organisations made up of government departments, businesses, tertiary and research institutions, as well as NGO’s both local and international. The goal is to help reduce carbon emissions in Cape Town, to mitigate and especially to adapt to the impacts of climate change, and protecting and enhancing the natural, cultural, social and economic environment. CSCT was also responsible for Africa’s first Carrotmob held in November 2011, after which a commitment was made to organise the next Carrotmob in one of Cape Town’s townships in the metro southeast. Restaurants from Langa, Khayelitsha and Gugulethu were considered, with the winning bid coming from Malibongwe Restaurant in Khayelitsha.

You are invited to participate in the Carrotmob by booking (+2721 361 6259 or info@malibongwerestaurant.co.za) for a meal on the 19th of May between 11:00 and 15:00 and coming to enjoy a delicious set menu featuring traditional township dishes. We can guarantee wonderful food, local music, interesting people and all-in-all a unique township experience!
Directions to the venue: from the N2, take the M44/Mew Way exit (exit 25) towards Khayelitsha. Drive approximately 4 km to where Mew Way crosses Spine Road – the restaurant is located in the Lookout Hill tourism centre on the southeast corner of the crossing, with access to the parking area situated in Spine Road. Secure parking will be available.
